At the Check-In Centre, we’ll welcome you to Kamloops and assist with essential tasks to help you settle in smoothly. This includes applying for provincial health insurance and a social insurance number, booking your English or math placement tests (if required), providing you with a welcome bag, and addressing any course registration concerns you may have.

New international students should bring (if applicable):
  • letter of acceptance
  • study permit
  • medical insurance
  • any requested original copies of documents such as transcripts
  • English testing scores
Please make sure you have a digital copy of all your important documents prior to travel, including the data page of your passport (the page with your photo on it). You may be asked for the documents at your port of entry.

Social Insurance Number Registration

Service Canada will be attending the Check-in Centre to help students register for their Social Insurance Number (SIN).
A Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a unique identifier issued by the Canadian government to track individuals' earnings and contributions to various social programs, such as Employment Insurance (EI) and the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). It is essential for anyone working while studying or planning to start a job in Canada.
