The Orientation Opening Ceremony for new international students is a warm and exciting welcome to your new journey at TRU. Topics will include how to access health services, safety on and off campus, tips for personal security, and what to do in case of an emergency. The session also covers important local laws and cultural considerations to help you feel confident and prepared as you settle into life in Canada. The Health and Wellness Presentation for new international students at TRU provides essential information to help students maintain their well-being during their studies. This session highlights the various health resources available on campus, including the TRU Health Centre, which offers primary care services, mental health counseling, and wellness programs. Students will also learn about the Campus Wellness Centre, where they can access fitness facilities, group classes, and health workshops. Additionally, the presentation covers the different health insurance options available to international students, such as Guard.me and the mandatory British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP),and extended health and dental insurance, ensuring students are well-informed and prepared to manage their health needs while studying at TRU.

The Kamloops Housing and Residential Tenancy Rights information session is designed to help students navigate the local housing market and understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants. During this session, students will learn about the different types of housing options available in Kamloops, including on-campus residences and off-campus rentals. The presentation will also cover important topics such as lease agreements, rent payments, security deposits, and the rights tenants have under British Columbia’s Residential Tenancy Act. Additionally, students will receive practical advice on how to handle common issues like repairs, disputes with landlords, and understanding rental contracts, ensuring they are well-equipped to make informed housing decisions and live comfortably in Kamloops.
